GUEST CHEF

Simon RImmer

12.08.2026

Join us for an exceptional evening as Ellis hosts the award-winning restaurateur and beloved TV chef Simon Rimmer.

Simon is someone who changed how people think about vegetarian food in this country. When he opened Greens in Manchester back in 1990, vegetarian restaurants weren't taken seriously by the industry. Within two years, The Guardian was calling it one of the most exciting restaurants in the UK. He ran it for over three decades, and it became a cornerstone of Manchester's food scene.

On screen, Simon's been a Sunday morning staple for nearly two decades, first on BBC2's Something for the Weekend, then Channel 4's Sunday Brunch. He's appeared on Great British Menu, Saturday Kitchen, and competed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017 (the dancing feet are real). He's also authored several cookbooks, including The Accidental Vegetarian and Lazy Brunch.

It’ll be the second time that Simon has made the trip over to Anglesey as part of the Guest Chef Series, and it’ll come as no surprise that tickets for his events FLY OUT!

SImon RImmer

Simon never trained as a chef. He studied fashion and textile design, and the original plan when he bought Greens in 1990 was to work front of house. When he couldn't afford to hire a cook, he stepped into the kitchen himself, and the rest is history. Greens became one of the UK's first vegetarian restaurants to earn serious recognition, holding its spot in The Good Food Guide and building a devoted following over more than three decades in West Didsbury. He went on to open Earle in Hale, and has published several cookbooks including The Accidental Vegetarian and Lazy Brunch (co-authored with Tim Lovejoy).

On television, Simon has been a constant presence since the mid-2000s. He co-hosts Channel 4's Sunday Brunch, previously anchored BBC2's Something for the Weekend, and has appeared on Great British Menu, Saturday Kitchen, This Morning, and Strictly Come Dancing. His style is warm, unpretentious, and endlessly enthusiastic.
