A bit of good news, and a favour to ask. Y Marram has been nominated twice in The Staff Canteen Awards 2026, for Sustainable Business of the Year, and for Front of House Team of the Year, where Cerys Clapham is our nominee.
The Staff Canteen is where chefs and hospitality people across the UK swap stories and news, and its awards work differently to most. There's no judging panel and no sponsor influence. The result comes down entirely to public votes!
Sustainable Business of the Year
The Staff Canteen Awards 2026, Sustainable Business of the Year.
We cook from scratch with produce bought directly from island growers, farmers and fishermen, so the menu changes with what comes in, from Menai mussels and oysters to Welsh cheeses. For breakfast, we make our own sausages, black pudding and cured bacon. And once a month, Marchnad Y Marram gives island producers a place to sell direct, right on our doorstep.
It goes beyond the restaurant too. Our #FoodSheducation cookery workshops teach groups such as young carers, with partners like Action for Children, and that work has grown into FoodSheducation Môn CIC, a social enterprise using food to improve health, wellbeing and opportunity. Its first major programme, Nourished at Sea, takes healthy cooking to fishing communities with SeaFit.
Front of House Team of the Year: Cerys Clapham
The Staff Canteen Awards 2026, Front of House Team of the Year.
Cerys leads from the front at Y Marram, across everyday service, the monthly market and our events. She mentors the young team we rely on for busy periods, setting expectations and getting them up to speed, which is no small job in a rural spot with big seasonal dips, where most of the team arrive with very little experience.
She's done all of that while studying for a Leadership and Management qualification at Coleg Llandrillo, where her tutors and mentors have praised her work. [CONFIRM: a line of your own about Cerys would lift this, if you want one.]

Voting closes on Monday 2 November. The shortlist of four finalists in each category is announced on Tuesday 10 November, and the winners are revealed at the awards night in London on Monday 16 November. We'll let you know how we get on.
