What's On? October 2026

Oktoberfest Môn at Y Marram poster, Saturday 10 October.

The clocks go back at the end of the month, the kitchen has gone properly autumnal, and there's a lot happening between now and Halloween. Here's everything in one place.

September finished with Kez and Liam cooking live at EGNI, with almost every ingredient bought from the stalls around them. If you missed it, the recipes are on the blog (Affogato Môn included, you're welcome).

Oktoberfest Môn

Saturday 10 October | 2pm to 10pm | £55 per person

Bavaria meets Ynys Môn for one afternoon. We're serving a Welsh–Bavarian sharing feast on long tables under the canopy, with crispy beer-braised Welsh pork hock, our own pork and leek bratwurst, warm pretzels and apple strudel. Wild Horse are on the bar and a live brass band starts at 2:30pm.

Fancy dress is very much encouraged. The theme is Welsh or German icons, so anyone from Owain Glyndŵr to Angela Merkel, and there are prizes for Best Dressed and Best Table. Tables seat 12 and are shared unless you book the whole thing (the perfect excuse to round up eleven friends).

Making a night of it? Motorhomes and caravans are welcome for the evening, subject to availability, and there's accommodation on site. Email info@newboroughholidays.com to check.

Cywain Coffee Morning

Thursday 15 October | 10am to 12pm | Register in advance

Run a food or drink business? Jayne, Cywain's Regional Growth Manager for Anglesey and Gwynedd, is hosting a relaxed coffee morning here to meet, network and share ideas over a hot drink and a pastry. Cywain client or just curious, you're welcome. Register for the coffee morning.

Marchnad Y Marram

Saturday 17 October | 10:30am to 4pm

Our monthly market is back on the third Saturday, with local growers, makers and bakers right on the doorstep. We're trying something new this month. The chef demo moves earlier, to around 11am, and there's a kids' workshop [CONFIRM: with Sensori Sara]. Come hungry.

Calan Gaeaf yn Y Marram

Saturday 24 October | from 10:30am | tickets per session

On the last Saturday before the clocks go back, we're marking Calan Gaeaf, the old Welsh turn of the year into winter, with a day of stories, sounds and stones.

  • Family morning with Sensori Sara, 10:30am to 12pm, £12.50. Children make a rattle, bell or clapper to take home, paint pumpkins and hear Ysgol Arswyd, a spooky story by local author Catrin Angharad Jones. Sara runs a second session from 1:30pm to 3pm. Her sessions sell out, so book early. [CONFIRM times and price]

  • The Hill in the Dark Grove, 12:30pm to 2pm in the tent, £6 or £12 with the book. Author Liam Higginson in conversation with Kristoffer Hughes, Chief of the Anglesey Druid Order, about ancient stones, old beliefs and the passage tomb at Bryn Celli Ddu that helped inspire the novel. Q&A and signing afterwards.

  • To the stones. After the talk Kris heads on to Bryn Celli Ddu, a short drive away. Make your own way there if you'd like to see the chamber (bring boots, it can be muddy).

  • Food all day from the kitchen and the BBQ. [CONFIRM: Ellis]

Seasonal Development Menu

Saturday 24 October | from 6pm | £100 per person, paired wines £65

As night falls on Calan Gaeaf, the kitchen serves October's Seasonal Development Menu, a tasting menu built from whatever Anglesey is giving us that week. The menu is released a week before, and booking ahead is essential.

Pumpkin Kimchi Workshop with Bwblin

Saturday 31 October | 10am to 1pm | £65 per person, take-home jar included

What better day for a bit of ancient alchemy than Halloween? Anna Lloyd, founder of Bwblin, takes you through pumpkin kimchi from scratch, from salting the veg to building the spice paste and packing a jar to take home and ferment. Curious beginners and confident cooks are equally welcome, and there are only ten places.

Make a morning of it with breakfast before or lunch after. Book a table here.

Out and About

Ellis is guest cheffing at The Savvy Fox in Wrexham on Saturday 3 October.

Then on 6th and 7th October we're in Pwllheli and Amlwch with FoodSheducation, a social enterprise that uses food to improve health, wellbeing and opportunity. We'll be cooking for fishermen as part of the Fishermen's Mission's SeaFit programme, sharing simple, nutritious recipes built for life at sea.
